Day Trip: Gyula

I’ve been curious about Gyula, a town of 30,000 in the southeast corner of Hungary, since I arrived in this country in October. A mere 5 kilometers from the Romanian border, Gyula is named after the medieval Hungarian warlord Gyula III and has known a turbulent history, to say the least.
